Deep Cleaning for Polyurethane Floors
Our process:
- Inspect and vacuum the floor.
- Use our power scrubber for a two-pass deep clean: Basic Coatings IFT (Intensive Floor Treatment) followed by Squeaky Cleaner.
- Edges, corners, and stairs are cleaned by hand.
- The machine scrubs and extracts dirty water, leaving your floor nearly dry and dirt-free.
Why it’s different: Home cleaning methods can’t extract embedded dirt or grime. Our deep cleaning removes layers of build-up, restoring natural luster and prolonging the life of the finish.
Frequency: At least once per year; quarterly if enrolled in our Quality Care Club.
Deep Cleaning for Penetrating Oil Floors
Oiled floors require special care to nourish wood fibers rather than just cleaning the surface.
Our process:
- Inspect and vacuum.
- Clean with the manufacturer-recommended soap (e.g., Rubio Soap for Rubio Monocoat).
- Use either a two-bucket mop system or power scrubber, followed by buffing with a white pad.
- Edges, corners, and stairs are finished by hand.

Long-Term Maintenance — Recoats & Renewals
Recoating Polyurethane Floors:
- Screen the floor to remove surface scratches and prep for adhesion.
- Clean and apply adhesion promoter (e.g., Tykote).
- Apply 2K water-based finish, multiple coats if desired.
- Recoats extend the life of the floor, refresh appearance, and are a cost-effective alternative to a full refinish.
- Typical timing: 3–7 years depending on traffic and care; guaranteed for members of the Quality Care Club every 5 years if needed.
Renewing & Re-Oiling Penetrating Oil Floors:
- Inspect, vacuum, and clean the floor.
- Light abrasion if necessary, then apply Renew or Re-oil.
- Buff to enhance depth, vibrancy, and luster.
- Can be applied to the full floor or localized high-traffic areas.
- Oiled floors age gracefully and can last generations with proper care.
